Come to ANA Zamfara 2008 National Convention

Dear Writer,

Greetings! You are encouraged to be at the coming national convention in Zamfara fro Thurs 30 October to Sat November 1 at Gusau Hotel. Gusau is the state capital and the state is agog with billboards announcing our expected arrivals.

Clear your doubts and biases about Sharia. We need to get over the media conditionings on this. Your best report on Zamfara is best got from the Youth Corpers who served there.

Kano 2001 remains one of the best ANA conventions in recent memory. We enjoyed ourselves.

Another attraction is the opportunity of seeing the caliphate and its environs. A golden opportunity to see the north North that influenced the other parts.

Lets be there for our committed ANA Zamfara chapter who always come all the way to the different part of the country wherever the Convention held.

DIRECTION TO ZAMFARA:

If you are coming by air, connecting from Kaduna/Kano airport where you can't get a direct.

If by road, a ride to Kaduna, is nearer to Zamfara where you take another bus to Gusau.

Expecting brothers and sisters.

Na me:
Chike Ofili,
Chairman Association of Nigerian Authors, Lagos.(08023409781)

Can you assist Us into good Investment?

- How family, hope all is is well? Sorry at this Perceived confusion or stress you may have receiving this letter, since we have not known ourselves or met previously. Despite that, I am constrained to write you because of the urgency of it and the source through which I got your contact gave me the confidence to reach you. By way of self introduction; I am Mrs. Pauline M. Kobe, a widow. My Husband was a top politician and well known rich cattle farmer from Sudan, he was a strong opposition member to the incumbent government and has indefatigably fought for the liberation of the minority Sudanese, he died in a helicopter crash alongside with 12 others members of his political party, and till date, what led to the helicopter crash is still unclear but I know that my husband was the target. I have a problem and I believe you will be of great assistance. Since after his death, I was trapped in obnoxious custom and traditional norms. Have suffered maltreatment along with my children and untold hardship in the hands of my late husband's family, simply because I did not bear a male child [heir apparent] for my husband and by their tradition, all that my late husband had, [wealth] belongs to his brothers/family. And I am to be remarried by his immediate younger brother which I vehemently refused because I 'm a religious person I always sought for God's direction in all my endeavors. On this basis, they conspired and took all that I suffered with my husband to acquire including treasures, houses and his bank particular seized by them. Am presently in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment over my high blood pressure and diabetes which keep weighing me down and kept me totally handicapped at my age of 44yrs. few weeks ago, I wanted to go on medical treatment in Germany but my husband brothers ganged up again and stole my international passport just to further frustrate my life. Now, God has liberated me and my Daughters by discovery of Money belong to my late husband and to God be the glory, none of his family knows about this development as I write you this mail. I came to know this, through his Fiduciary Agent and the Money involved was made out of his business dealings overseas, in total of 7.5 Millions United States Dollars, kept somewhere for his investment purposes before his enemies took away his dear life. Upon hearing from you, I will introduce you to the Fiduciary Agent who assisted him in making the deposit to help into this transaction. Based on what I read about you on your profile, I need your involvement as a person of high profile and influential to help us relocate this funds to your Bank account and invest it into real estate or any other lucrative business of your choice as I think to be safe in your hand though it depends when we start moving forward, it has become very necessary and urgent I relocate it his money outside it's present location before my brother in-laws lay claims on it and that is my main reasons for contacting a foreigner like you to come in and receive this money as I cannot do it myself due to my bad health condition now. If I may ask to know, can you be able to arrange my traveling documents to your Country for my medical checkup if this money been transfer to your care?. My life has been devoted to working with children and I will use 10% of the total Money to fund charity, orphanages and widows in name of my late Husband while reserve the remaining for the future of my four lovely daughters, while 15% goes to you. Dear, since yesterday night, my sickness has becoming on unbearable and I have no other option than to thanks the lord Almighty for every situation found self. There is no reason to keep hold of the fund when I know that I may have no chance of enjoying it here on earth than to invest it for the future of Children. Therefore, I am serious in need of your word as I wait to know your decision on this appeal. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you more details. May God bless you and your entire household. I advise you resend reply to my personal email address here: paulinekobe@live.com Regards, Mrs. Pauline Kobe and Children.

48th Independence Greetings for NIgeria

Dear writer,

Greetings from the Association of Nigerian Authors, the Centre of  Exellence chapter, Lagos, and happy independence day to Nigeria, our dear native land!

As we mark our 48th anniversary as a nation, i call on us to renew our faith in Nigeria our country, and to remember always that you are the change that Nigeria awaits. Lets put ourselves on oath never to sabotage Nigeria for any reason, and at whatever personal benefit to us.

As we write from the generous materials this land of stories gives to us, lets us write hope into it, because everything good will come. Let us identify the saboteurs, and do something about them.

I wish you a renewed love for Nigeria.

It's me:
Chike Ofili,
Chairman.

Fw: [krazitivity] Nigerian Writing Meets the World

JOIN FIDELITY BANK & CHIMAMANDA FOR A LITERARY FEAST

From the Chairman's Desk:
Fidelity Bank that is fast emerging as a bank for literature would have me invite ANA members to the closing ceremony of the creative writers' workshop that ends with a literal and literary feast. ANA Lagos identifies with this laudable initiative. So lets be there for the bank and Chimamanda.
Listen to Fidelity's media manager, poet James Eze:

This is calling on memebers of this group who might find themselves in our neck of the wood this Friday to the closing ceremony of the International Creative Writing Workshop organized by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and sponsored by Fidelity Bank Plc. It just might be worth your while to watch Chimamanda, Dave Eggers, Marie-Elena John and Binyavanga Wainaina talk about their works. And what's more, your favourite Nigerian authors might be among the list of writers from the Nigerian scene who will read their works to the audience.

Date - Friday August 29, 2008
Venue - Oceanview Restaurant, Adetokunbo Ademola Street, V.I, Lagos
Time - 4.00 pm

Folks, its a literary feast. Don't miss this one!

Thank you.

James Eze

Writers Mourn lettered Men, Solzhenitsyn, Jose and artists

                                     PRESS RELEASE

Writers Mourn lettered men, Solzhenitsyn, Jose and Artists
Just as the Centre of Excellence chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, Lagos was just marking the longevity associated with writers and fighters in the persons of Dr. T.M Aluko and Dr. Nelson Mandela's 90th birthdays, and preparing to jointly examine Lessons From Mandela and Fela, Two System Fighters on Saturday August 9, 2008, a major writer and fighter, Mr. Alexander Solzhenitsyn of the dreaded system of Josef Stalin's Soviet Union, passed away at 90 too. So did the quintessential Nigerian journalist, Mr. Babatunde Jose at 82.

ANA  Lagos mourns the great Russian novelist, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the writer who fought Josef Stalin's  repressive Russia to a standstill with his courage, his pen and his voice. He also did so much to the general understanding of repressive systems and the appreciation of prison literature with works like The Gulag Archipelago, One day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich among his many books with which he exposed Stalin's Russia. For the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA Lagos, it is both prophetic of their celebration of the longevity associated with writers and fighters as evidenced and celebrated in Dr.T. M Aluko and Dr.Nelson Mandela, as it is of their topic of discussion for Saturday 9 August in their every second Saturday of the month reading on: Lessons From Mandela and Fela, Two System Fighters.

In the words of  Mr. Chike Ofili, the chapter Chairman, "To help bring the distant death of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the great and unbowed Russian writer that resisted the tyranny of Josef Stalin's misrule with his courage, pen and voice home to our Nigerian environment, is to try to apprehend the repressive psychological weather of fear that journalist-fighter Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe worked under colonial Nigeria, that the afrobeat musical maestro, Fela Anikulapo Kuti and the fire brand legal luminary, Gani Fawehinmi who were constantly gallowed by repressive military regimes in Nigeria, operated in; whilst not forgeting Prof. Chike Obi, Prof Wole Soyinka and Dr. Bala Usman. So was A.S of Russia in Stalin's gulag" .

We also mourn Alhaji Babatunde Jose a lettered and committed man of the pen who was much sold out to journalistic excellence at a time when news gathering was much more challenging. We celebrate rather than mourn the autobiographical author of Walking a Tight Rope  and greatly hope that today's journalism in Nigeria that is increasingly getting compromised in standards and ethics, and ever waiting for the news to walk its way into the newsroom in a wait-and-get manner, will find rejuvenation from his death says Chike  Ofili.

In similar manner, the body of writers commiserate with the Performing Musician Association of Nigeria,PMAN and broadcasters for their losses too many."We are bowed by the death of the revolutionary fighter singer, Sunny Okosun, the technical depth of the musicianship and musicology of Steve Rhodes, the pleasure giving music of Oliver de Coque, the budding music of Sammy Needle. So do we fondly miss the fast fading research enabling broadcast presentation style and politeness of the late NTA man, Mr.Segun Apata, and Mr. Alade Aromire the resorceful movie maker in the yoruba tradition who brought entrepreneurship and the will to solve a threatening challenge to the movie making business hobby, and for his business acumen even in the Estate business.

The Centre of Excellence chapter of  the ANA, Lagos invites writers and the general public to its 2pm meeting on Saturday 9 August at the Aina Onabolu , National Arts gallery Wing of the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.

Signed
Mrs. Christy Odia
P.A to the Chairman:
Association of Nigerian Authors, Lagos.

Writers Examine MANDELA AND FELA TWO SYSTEM FIGHTERS

The Centre of Excellence Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Lagos will be doing a public celebration of Africa's symbol of our globally desired humanity, Madiba, Nelson Mandela who turned 90 on July 18; and one of Africa's finest music maestro with a musical mission and direction, Fela Anikulapo Kuti on Saturday 9 August, 2008.The chapter intends to take a look at the similarities and differences in the ways these two accomplished change agents took on the different systems within ttheir countries.Whereas Mandela took on apartheid  as represented in their foreign overlords headlong in South Africa through political activism, even against 27 years of incaceration,Fela confronted internal oppression, corruption and retrogression with his musical weapon and verbal activism.

At the ANA Lagos' monthly reading, Mr. Chike Ofili the Chairman of the Chapter would be making a pre-presentation of the ready poetic biography of Fela to the public, under the programmes's segment:Work in Progress. It is an anthology, the publics' poetic interpretation of Fela sent in to chikeofili@yahoo.com over two years. Contributors to the coming collection of poems are required to be around, and new contributors, particularly women will be given till the end of August for the final submission for the book that will be coming out on the month of Fela's birthday in October.

When all eyes are upon me
I ask God to help you fairly play,
To help you learn something in the game
And pray once the game is over
Whether you loss or win

When all eyes are upon me
I pray that competition make me strong
I pray that it makes my players strong
but never hostile to me or the opponents
if they are denied victory that should be our

Always Dear God let me help my players up
With dynamism needed to complete the journey
Skill to remind them that sports are just games
And that all the calls are fair
